:(Yesterday was a sad day for slot racing in the north Ga. area. One of the great tracks, especially for hardbody Nascar racers, is gone forever. On my way to race at Victory Lane in Cartersville, I decided to go by Acworth Speedway's old location to see if the news was true that the tracks there had been set out by the landlord. As I drove up to the store I was relieved that the tracks were not placed out front on the parking lot. As I looked through the fence on the side , my heart fell. Next to the fence by the railroad tracks was a stack of yellow and blue with legs up in the air with a steady rain falling with no cover for protection. The 110ft Tunkel Daytona and the 70ft dirt oval are more than likely damaged beyond repair. I am sad and angry that persons who could have done something to prevent this did not step up and compromise or do what they could to prevent this from happening. When the going gets tough it seems that words are cheap, and actions are hard to come by. John

There is ONLY ONE PERSON TO BLAME HERE----NO ONE ELSE!!!!!!.I was told so many stories about the track and Danny R and myself were so close to getting the tracks and we contacted Mike ( the owner of the tracks) and it was the price he said and NO ONE ELSE could put a price on them. Mike told us he will destroy the tracks this weekend if no one payed $3500 for them.We offer $2000.We were told the tracks were under tarp and protected. The tracks could of had a home if there were not so many lies told. The little track had a home I told you I would get it but you never contacted me on it.You said it was part of the deal Jeff was making. Then it was to late Mike locked the doors.
So who are you claiming could have prevented this? You were going to take over the track to run but did not,for reasons that were understandable.Jeff could have paid his rent but did not.
I for one am disgusted to here the tracks were rained on.I don't won't to see any track destroyed.Thats why I applaud you for holding on to the pink track. That is a track you can not replace.
There was a guy on OWH who gave King away just to save it because he could not afford rent on storage. Jeff tried to do the same but you can't give away what you don't own.I think every body did their part to help save the tracks.Eddie C went and got the stock and watch the tear down. Eddie Mac helped when John was getting the track. And the drivers did what they could. There is alot more to this than I will know and that anyone else will know. What is done is done. Lets go forward and save the other tracks.

I agree this sucks. I myself tried everything I could to get it. I just couldn't put it together. I even told one person I would pay for it, let them go get it, and make me payments! I still couldn't get anyone to go get it. Jeff and I talked on the phone all last week trying to figure something out to no avail. It really sucks. I wish I could have gotten it, Didn't really have anywhere to put it, but I would have loved to had it for the future.

Evidently I was kept out of the loop here at the end. Thanks to all who tried to save this great track.

This is just really the final nail in the coffin of Acworth Speedway. While I hate to hear it, it doesn't surprise me a bit. Jeff quit caring a long time ago and all of the racers, me included got tired of doing for him. That was probably the most fun track I've raced on. I'll have alot of memories of racing Russell, Weebel, Gaz, Joey, Shawn and others at Daytona Speedway on that track.

I hate to hear about this, had alot of fun racing on the big Daytona and made alot of new friends racing at acworth. It sucks to know that one of the best tracks I have ever raced on is outside laying on the ground.

I hate to here the Daytona is gone. But the truth is their was to much baggage that went along with that track. Not trying to defend anyones actions here but times are tough for everyone; even for Jeff. It's not anyone fault here except Jeff's. I don't like to see any tracks destroyed especially in this manner but unfortunately their was nothing anyone could do about it. LIKE I SAID TO MUCH BAGGAGE WENT ALONG WITH THOSE TRACKS.

I don't know all the details of what all happened in Ga. But I do have to defend Jeff on one thing, he called me numerous times as we tried to come up with a plan that would work. He was very concerned about the tracks. He wasn't even concerned about the money, he told me to try to find someone to just go get them and we would worry about the money later. So like I said, don't know about the rest, but in the 2 weeks, Jeff made a good effort to save them.
